Tens of thousands of people participate in book fair to mark Vietnam Book Day

Activities at the Book Fair 2017 at Thong Nhat Park closed on April 10th, marking the Vietnam Book Day (April 21st).

Bookshops with about 100 booths of 80 publishers nationwide introduced nearly 4,000 titles of all kinds, tens of thousands of books covering a wide range of topics. Various fields, such as politics, law, economics, science and technology, reference, education, literature, culture and religion to meet the demands and tastes of many readers.

During the five days of the Book Fair, about 20 events were organized with different themes, linking to books and reading culture. Key events include: Introduction of the work by President Ho Chi Minh, published by National Political Publishing House – Truth; the talk “Doom for all” by journalist, poet Do Quy Doan – Former Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, organized by the Information and Communications Publishing House; and the Talkshow “Protecting the Sexual Safety of Children – Things Parents Need to Know”, organized by Phuc Minh Investment and Trade Development Joint Stock Company. In addition, at the booths were interesting activities such as: gift games, lucky draw, stickers and so on.

Tens of thousands of people were attracted to the event to buy books and participate in exchanges and talks.

According to deputy head of the Department of Publication, Printing and Distribution Nguyen Ngoc Bao, the fair drew the attention of people in Hanoi and surrounding provinces and cities. Publishing houses, communication companies, writers and poets contributed to promote reading culture, creating a bridge between people and values of books, between the demands of use and social development.

As scheduled, many other activities to respond Vietnam Book Day will be held during April nationwide, especially in remote and mountainous areas, border areas and islands, at schools, libraries and companies./.
