Vietnam, Cuba foster cooperation in education, science and sports

The Communist Party of Cuba supports the cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology and Cuba’s Committee of Science, Technology and Environment, especially on issues of common concern to jointly study, find solutions and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation.

The statement was made by Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias, Secretary of the Cuba Party Central Committee and Head of the Committee for Science, Education and Sports of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, in a meeting with the Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam Chu Ngoc Anh, on October 9th in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Minister Anh reviewed the outstanding results in science and technology cooperation between the two countries over the past years. The two sides have carried out projects on cooperative research on vaccines.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias said that the Communist Party of Cuba attaches great importance to science and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in priority areas, meeting the requirements of implementing the Resolutions of the Communist Party of Cuba at the 6th and 7th congresses. The cooperation also served the common long-term cooperation between the two Governments in many fields, including biotechnology, food processing and nanotechnology.

Ms. Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias added that the Committee of Science, Technology and Environment would promote cooperation in this field to a new height, corresponding to the role of a science and technology agency, meeting the increasing requirements of the two countries and serving the cause of socio-economic development of each country./.
