(CPV) - The US Mission in Vietnam is seeking grant proposals from alumni of Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) student and scholar fellowships by creating opportunities for them to work together on a shared vision of a brighter future for Vietnam and the US- Vietnam relationship by addressing shared concerns.

Alumni teams, which can include alumni of other US Government sponsored programs, can submit proposals as a group of individuals or under the auspices of a non-profit organization in which alumni are working. Project budgets cannot exceed USD20,000 and proposals must be in English.

Proposals may be submitted on a rolling basis between February 5th and July 31st, 2018 with submission deadlines as follows: March 31st, May 31st and July 31st.

In the joint statement between the US and Vietnam following President Trump’s visit last November, both sides affirmed their support for enhancing people-to-people ties to strengthen mutual understanding, cooperation, and friendship between the peoples, including USD500,000 in VEF alumni grants.

The mission of VEF is to strengthen the US-Vietnam bilateral relationship through educational exchanges in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) fields.  Since its inception in 2003, VEF has supported 571 fellowships, and it will officially sunset on December 31st, 2018./.
