Vietnam wins 7 gold medals at IMSO 2016

The Vietnamese mathematics team ranked first as it bagged seven gold, two silver, and three bronze medals at the International Mathematics & Science Olympiad (IMSO) 2016 for students under 13 years old, held in Indonesia from November 9th to 13th.

Gold medals went to Cao Thuy An, Nguyen Khanh Nam, and Nguyen Nhat Minh from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students; Giang Khanh Chi and Ngo Thuy Dang from Archimedes Academy; Pham Viet Hung from Star Hanoi Primary School and Le Duc Minh from Doan Thi Diem Primary School.

IMSO 2016 drew the participation of more than 400 students from 23 countries and territories, including Bulgaria, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Brunei, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherland, Nigeria,Tajikistan, Indonesia and Vietnam.

At the Olympiads, students sit the tests written in English. As for mathematics, students compete in a multiple choice, written, and discovery tests. Science contestants, meanwhile, take three tests in physics, biology, and chemistry.

It provided a playground for primary students to learn more from experience and develop their mathematics and science competence./.
