Vietnam wins three gold medals at International Chemistry Olympiad 2017

According to the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assurance under the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnamese students won three gold and one silver medals at the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2017.

This is the highest achievement Vietnam has obtained at an International Chemistry Olympiad.

Three golds went to Dinh Quang Hieu, a 12th grader, and Pham Duc Anh, an 11th grader, from the High School for Gifted Students - University of Sciences, VNU-Hanoi; and Nguyen Bang Thanh Lam, a 12th grader from the Amsterdam High School in Hanoi.

Hoang Nghia Tuyen, a 12th grader from the Phan Boi Chau Gifted High School in the central province of Nghe An brought home the silver.

The 49th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2017, hosted in Thailand, drew the participation of 297 students from 49 countries and territories. The US ranked first with four gold medals. Vietnam and China stood second with three golds and one silver.

The Ministry of Education and Training also welcomed back and congratulated the Vietnamese delegation at Noi Bai International Airport./.
