Viettel subscribers to enjoy 4G services from lunar new year 2017

(CPV) - As the lunar new year 2017 is coming very soon, the number of 3G subscribers of Viettel is expected to increase from 35% to over 50%, while customers who use data services will double, forecast the Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications Group (Viettel) on January 20th.

As many as 54 festive centers throughout the nation will attract over 10,000 people at the same time, mainly in the Northern region. So, in order to ensure the network quality for surfing the Internet, live-streaming, and sharing data, photos and videos, Viettel has so far installed around 190 new BTSs (base transceiver stations), as well as maximized and upgraded over 14,000 BTSs nationwide.

For hosting sites, high buildings, festive events and crowded areas, some 74 mobile command vehicles and broadcast trucks (each equivalent to 4 BTSs, including 2G, 3G and 4G) are ready to deploy for emergency cases.

Especially, by installing thousands of BTS 4G, Viettel subscribers to enjoy 4G technology from lunar new year 2017, enjoying a better data services (7-10 times faster than 3G with mobile data transferring technology with a maximum speed of up to 1-1.5 Gb/s).

In the first quarter of 2017, the full 4G services provided by Viettel will be officially operated nationwide.

A source from Viettel Networks Company said it has prepared a detailed and comprehensive action plan for this upcoming event, with 2,000 technical staff available for 24 hour supervising and controlling, through a 3-layer-mechanism from province/city to region and the Company.

Apart from supplying essential conditions, power sources, air conditioners, electric generators, stations and other information and technology systems, it adds 200 wi-fi devices at festival points, thus effectively providing the best services to customers.

From December 27th, 2016 to February 28th, 2017, SIM cards using 4G technology (which has a capacity of 128 KB, designed to fit all mobile phones in the market and also applicable for 2G and 3G technologies) are being provided for free to subscribers./.
