Zika infection confirmed in Long An province

On October 24th, Long An provincial Department of Health has announced the first Zika patient in the province.

Accordingly, the provincial Department Health has received the test results from Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute. They show that the four-year old girl in Benh Luc district in the province tested positive for Zika virus, bringing the total number of Zika infections in the country to eleven.

Right after that, Long An provincial health sector coordinated with relevant agencies and localities to conduct epidemic investigation, provide health treatment to patients and treat locations at risk for the epidemic.

Earlier, provincial relevant agencies carried out anti-mosquito measures in key areas, promoted dissemination of communications and improved people’s awareness of petechial fever and diseases caused by Zika virus.

The provincial Department of Health also asked local people, especially pregnant women, to actively monitor their health and carry out measures to prevent Zika virus infection./.
