The Drug Prevention Control Team under the Ho Chi Minh city Customs Department and the Ministry of Public Security checked and seized an illegal export of the drug precursor Ephedrine, with new sophisticated techniques.

The shipment with drugs was sent via an international courier company in Ho Chi Minh City by air, including one parcel, containing a total of 20 motorcycle tires with the brand Yokohama, weighing 13.5kg, to be exported to New Zealand.
On each tire, the authorities discovered a trace of 3-4cm long cut, which had been sealed with resins and when squeezing the tires by hand, the powder contained inside could be felt.
Further investigation found that each of the 20 tires contained a white crystal powder, which is tested to be Ephedrine, a precursor to make methamphetamine.
The exhibit has total weight of about 4.5kg. The case has been handed over to the Ministry of Public Security for further investigation./.
