The event, jointly held by the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper and the Vietnam People’s Navy Command, conveyed the tributes of people, businesses and domestic and foreign organizations towards the sacrifice of island soldiers for national protection; and honoured the will, aspiration and great efforts by cadres and soldiers who are protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty. It also aimed to encourage people to reinforce ties with cadres and soldiers on distant islands, and mobilize support from organizations and individuals to build up stronger and stronger Spratly Islands.

The 90-minute event provided the audience with emotional songs about the Spratly Islands and about love for the nation, performed by famous singers. During the program, the audience also got a taste of life on the Spratly Islands through reports about soldiers and islanders. Since 2013, the annually held art performance has received great care from Party and State leaders, as well as the practical and effective assistance from agencies, business and people inside and outside the country.
