Central Highlands invests in school facilities in remote areas

Central Highlands provinces have invested hundreds of billions of VND to build thousands of classrooms and equip schools for the 2017-2018 school-year, the Central Highlands Steering Committee has reported.

Accordingly, the Central Highlands provinces have spent the money building schooling infrastructure in remote, ethnic minority-inhabited and border areas.

In Dak Lak province, reporting the highest number of pupils among Central Highlands provinces, each year, over VND100 billion was spent repairing and building 500 classrooms or more and buying school equipment. There are over 1,012 permanent schools, with 100% of communes having at least one primary school.

Despite difficulties, Dak Nong province has also invested over VND100 billion to repair and build schools and equip classrooms for the next school year.

Apart from the budget, Central Highlands provinces have been funded with tens of billions of VND by organizations and businesses for building classrooms in remote and ethnic minority-inhabited areas.

According to the Central Highlands Steering Committee, the school infrastructure has been expanded while the number of teachers has been increased to improve the quality of education.

At present, the Central Highlands has 3,351 schools, an increase of 67 schools compared with the 2015-2016 school-year, including 1,046 schools reaching national standard./.
