Contest on ideas to build reading habits among young people

The final round and awarding ceremony of the contest for ideas on ​​"Building reading habits among young people" was organized at the Book Street in Ho Chi Minh City (Nguyen Van Binh Street, District 1) on October 12th five months after it launched.

The contest was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and Ho Chi Minh City Book Street One Member Limited Liability Company.

From 74 ideas of individuals and groups, the organizing board selected 11 ideas for the final round. These are innovative ideas, which apply technology and are economical and feasible.

At the final round, the candidates had to present and defend their ideas in a maximum of eight minutes before judges, who are experts from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee’s Commission for Popularization and Education, Department of Information - Communications, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Youth Publishing House, and some other units.

The first prize was given to Le Phuong Thao Vy, a ninth-grade student from Dinh Thien Ly Secondary School. The second prize was presented to a group of candidates from youth union of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, and the third prize to Le Thi Kim Thoa, a teacher from Tran Dai Nghia high school.

Speaking at the event, judge panel member Dr. Quach Thu Nguyet said that the 74 ideas from individuals and groups from youth unions, schools, apartments, families and community prove the growing awareness of building reading habit in society. Many creative ideas can be carried out effectively if they are supported by the Ho Chi Minh City youth union, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street One Member Limited Liability Company and book-loving community./.
