Secretary of Da Nang city Party Committee Truong Quang Nghia; Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, Head of COVID-19 Prevention Special Section of the Ministry of Health in Da Nang, together with relevant units, directly checked the construction of the field hospital.

According to the city Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, this is the first field hospital model in the country to be urgently deployed to prevent and combat COVID-19. Therefore, apart from the progress factor, the quality of the construction is top priority.

“The city Department of Construction ensured the construction standards of the Ministry of Construction, while the city Department of Health will provide equipment and personnel work to collect and treat patients in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Health,” said Secretary Nghia.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son also asked the construction units to coordinate closely with each other to ensure the safety and quality of the project.

He also requested the Da Nang health sector to inspect the quality of the construction, to complete designs of entrance, exit, treatment areas, sample taking areas, testing areas, ventilation conditions, air and light conditions, as well as garbage collection conditions, to ensure that the work will be ready to  receive patients after completion.

The field hospital at Tien Son Sports Center has 700 sick-beds, ready to collect and treat patients when required. In case of a more complicated epidemic situation, the hospital can expand to 1,000 beds.

Director of Da Nang city Department of Health, Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen, said that the medical equipment for treatment and check-ups are being prepared while the health sector is completing personnel preparations to lead and operate the field hospital, to be submitted to the Ministry of Health for consideration and approval.

Regarding the operation plan, Ms. Yen added that the field hospital would be used depending on the disease situation in the locality. Accordingly, it will receive and treat patients if there are outbreaks of COVID-19; or will be a location for receiving and isolating people that have close contact with known cases, in case the number of COVID-19 patients remains under control and other hospitals are still able to collect, receive and treat them./.
