Da Nang city accelerates preparations for APEC

Vice Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan on August 10th chaired a meeting of the APEC Organizing Committee to inspect the preparations for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit which is scheduled for November in the city.

During the meeting, Nguyen Cong Tien, Vice Director of the city Department of Foreign Affairs, said that the city had welcomed inspection delegations of the Secretariat and sub-committees of the APEC 2017 National Committee, and the first pre-advance delegation from 20 APEC member economies. “Through inspections, the delegation appreciated the preparations for the event, especially the press centre,” said Mr. Tien.

To complete the preparations, Vice Chairman Tuan asked the Office of the city People’s Committee to work with the city Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Construction to regularly inspect and accelerate the progress of constructions for APEC, including the upgrade of InterContinental Hotel, the Ariyana Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel and Furama Hotel.

The Department of Construction will also responsible for working with the Department of Culture and Sports to plant more trees, and complete the infrastructure and statue locations for APEC member economies at the APEC Park.

The Vice Chairman suggested that the Da Nang International Airport accelerate the progress and ensure the quality of constructions at the airport before September 30th, serving the initial adoption of the APEC 2017 National Committee.

The city public security was requested to make plans for ensuring complete political security, social order and traffic safety during APEC Summit, and work out solutions for urgent situations, including fire, accidents, epidemics and natural disasters.

The investment and upgrade of information infrastructure, and provision of power and water and healthcare readiness during APEC Summit also required thorough preparations, according to Vice Chairman Tuan./.
