Addressing the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh said that the workshop was among activities marking the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam - Finland diplomatic relationship, and helped reinforce the cooperation in developing a smart and innovative city.

According to Vice Chairman Minh, in 2014, the city adopted the project on building a smart city in the five areas of traffic, water supply, water sewerage, food safety and links. In particular, the online authority model initiated by the city, which has helped increase the efficiency of management and provision of information for residents and enterprises, has been expanded in different localities across Vietnam.

Looking forward to become an innovative city, Da Nang has been chosen to participate in the Vietnam-Finland Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP) at the first and second phases.

Noting that Da Nang is a dynamic and developed city, and an important centre of central Vietnam, Counselor of the Finnish Embassy in Vietnam Marko Saarinen confirmed that Finnish partners cared deeply about cooperating with Da Nang, especially in the building of a smart and innovative city.

During the workshop, Director of the city Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Quang Thanh noted that Da Nang would experience five levels in building a smart city: links, supervision, storage, analysis, control and automation of some management processes. “In the upcoming time, the city will focus on the two final levels, with priorities to be given to smart government, smart life and smart environment,” he added.

He also expressed his hope that Finland would introduce successful smart models, especially models on dealing with, analyzing and making decisions based on existing data, and that Finnish companies would give training on and transfer smart applications for Da Nang’s companies.

Finnish experts’ proposals will be taken into the city’s overall socio-economic development plans, according to Mr Ky Minh./.
