Of which, the poverty rate among ethnic minority people was reduced by 4.19%, from 34.02% in 2016 to 29.83% in 2017.
These results were brought about by different efforts. In 2017, Dak Lak gave preferential loans worth VND1.251 trillion to 47,200 poor families and beneficiaries; and organized 73 vocational training courses for nearly 2,500 rural laborers.
Additionally, poor and nearly-poor people were assisted with State budget of over VND622.3 billion to receive nearly 918,000 medical insurance cards, while 2,742 poor families’ houses were built or repaired.
The province targets to boost sustainable poverty reduction in the 2016-2020 period, contributing to realizing economic development goals, ensuring social welfare, improving the lives and incomes of poor people, especially those in poor and ethnic minority-inhabited regions, and making favourable conditions for poor families to access healthcare, education, housing, safe water and information.
To realize the target, the province has focused investment on socio-economic infrastructure in poor districts, extremely disadvantaged and border communes, with priority given to traffic, schools, medical stations, irrigation works and safe water supply constructions.
People have been encouraged to participate in different programs to raise their income, in an attempt to promote the efficiency of essential infrastructure, reduce the risks of natural disasters, adapt to climate change and improve access to markets./.
