Dak Lak province to reduce poverty rate to 5%

The Prime Minister has adopted a general socio-economic development plan for the central Highlands province of Dak Lak until 2020 and orientation to 2030. Accordingly, the province will strive to reduce the poverty rate to below 5% by 2020.

Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita is expected to reach VND60-60.5 million by 2020 and the export turnover in the 2016-2020 period is set at USD3,765 million.

Under the plan, the province aims to increase the agricultural, forestry and fishery proportion of 38.5%, 39.5% and 20% by 2030, respectively, with an increase in breeding, fishery and forestry production, as well as agricultural services.

Additionally, it will establish and develop minor agricultural production regions which promote the province’s natural conditions and key products in connection with the processing industry; and boost comprehensive agricultural, forestry and fishery development to ensure national food security, contributing to stabilizing growth, balancing the environment and maintaining the ecology.

Industrial development will focus on modern and environmental friendly technologies. In the 2016-2020 period, it will focus on processing agricultural products, textile, construction materials, mechanics, electronics, water and supportive industry, while after 2020, priority will be given to processing high quality agricultural products, high ranking construction materials, machine manufacturing and supportive industry serving exports.

Efforts will be made to increase service production to 11-12% per year in the 2016-2020 period and some 12-12.5% per year in the 2021-2030 period; enhance the quality of services that boost production, and the quality of financial, banking, transport, posts and telecommunications services. 

By 2020, the province is expected to welcome more than 1.1 million tourists, including 103,000 international arrivals; while the figures are estimated at more than 2.8 million tourists by 2030./.
