Diverse activities pay tribute to revolutionary contributors

Marking the 70th anniversary of the Day for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs (July 27th), National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on July 17th presented 106 savings books worth VND2 million each to Vietnamese heroic mothers who are being cared for at the Quang Nam provincial centre for revolutionary contributors.

She also paid homage at the provincial martyrs’ memorial, Vietnamese heroic mothers’ memorial, martyrs’ cemetery; and visited heroes and Vietnamese heroic mothers.

On the same day, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member and Minister of National Defence, visited and gave presents to Senior Lieutenant-General Le Kha Phieu, former Party General Secretary and former Head of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army; General Le Duc Anh, former State President, former Minister of National Defence; Generals Pham Van Tra and Phung Quang Thanh, former Politburo members and former Ministers of National Defence.

During the visit, General Lich reported with the former leaders the information about military, defence and army building activities, as well as those to show payment of gratitude across the army. He wished the former leaders good health, longevity and continued precious contributions to the Party and the building of the Vietnam People’s Army. 

Truong Hoa Binh, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister, on July 17th led a delegation to the southern province of Soc Trang to work on ethnic minority issues in 2016 and in the first half of this year.

He praised Soc Trang province’s socio-economic development results, especially in providing jobs for ethnic minority people, noting that the province should make greater efforts in boosting economic development by issuing solutions to promote sustainable poverty reduction and minimize the number of families falling back to poverty, especially among Khmer ethnic minority people.

He also reminded the province to reinforce political security and national solidarity, and prevent a degradation of political ideology, morality and lifestyle among cadres and Party members.

During the visit, he visited and gave presents to 40 beneficiaries’ and poor families in Phu Tan commune, Chau Thanh district; 100 scholarships worth VND1 million each to ethnic minority poor pupils; and visited some Vietnamese heroic mothers’ and martyrs’ families.

Receiving a delegation of revolutionary contributors from the northern province of Bac Kan in Hanoi on July 17th, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed that Vietnam’s national liberation and freedom had been brought about by the great sacrifice of people across the country. “The Party and State always remember the merit and make favourable conditions for revolutionary contributors,” he said.

He praised the efforts made by Bac Kan provincial Party Committee and authority in caring for revolutionary contributors./.
