According to the provincial People’s Committee, the 30 operational industrial zones have completed the building of concentrated waste water treatment plants with a total capacity of over 135,000 cubic metres per day. Statistics by the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority show that the 30 industrial zones release some 96,600 cubic metres of waste water per day.

Of the waste water, 68,200 cubic metres are sentto concentrated waste water plants for treatment each day, while nearly 28,400 cubic metres are licensed to be released directly into the environment.

At present, four businesses are not connected with the concentrated waste water treatment plants, as they are currently constructing waste water systems.

To inspect the waste water released into the environment, Dong Nai province has installed 25 automatic waste water monitoring stations which are connected with an inspection centre located at the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Figures about the quality of water is reported to the stations every 5-10 minutes, which helps inspection agencies regularly deal with any possible inadequate waste water released into the environment.

According to Vo Van Chanh, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, apart from these 25 monitoring stations, the province is completing procedures to invest in an additional six stations to ensure that in 2017, the automatic waste water monitoring stations will be installed in all industrial zones operating waste water treatment systems.

To strictly inspect the waste water released into the environment, the provincial People’s Committee has asked the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with the Industrial Zones Authority and related agencies, to regularly supervise the operation of concentrated waste water treatment systems in operational industrial zones; and install waste water monitoring stations in six industrial zones./.
