Accordingly, Finnish experts and businesses have put forth diverse solutions promoting the process of turning waste into energy, and analyzed the advantages of applying Finland’s waste-to-clean energy experience in Vietnam.

According to Saku Liuksia, Program Manager for Waste to Energy and Bioenergy from Business Finland, Finland leads the world in waste to energy technology. “As Vietnam continues to develop both its power needs and the demand for clean energy, innovative ways to treat waste from households as well as agriculture and industry become crucial," said Mr. Saku Liuksia.

Vietnam wants to rapidly develop waste treatment solutions for treating three million tonnes of waste and imported hazardous waste each year.

Finnish experts confirmed that urban solid waste as well as hazardous waste produced in agricultural and industrial production in Vietnam can be reused to become clean energy adding to the national grid.

At present, several Finnish enterprises, including BMH’s technology, turn solid, non-hazardous waste into solid recovered fuel; Fortum Company provides solutions for heating, cooling and recycling waste for cities and industries; and Simosol Oy's services for forest resources valuations, and research on feasibility of agricultural forestry and bioenergy projects, have been studying cooperative programs in Vietnam./.
