Free medical check-ups and operations provided in Central Highlands region

The Dak Lak provincial General Hospital and the provincial Fund for Children on July 23rd worked with Operation Smile Vietnam to give free medical check-ups and operations to 140 children and disadvantaged adults coming from Central Highlands localities.

They were people living in difficult circumstances or ethnic minorities in remote areas in Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Lam Dong provinces, who were suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate.

Medical check-ups were carried out by doctors and healthcare experts from the Ho Chi Minh city University of Medical Centre and the city Odonto -Stomatology National Hospital. After the check-ups, 80 children and adults are expected to be given free operations until July 27th. In addition, the patients will also be assisted with meal and transport fees.

This was the fourth time Operation Smile Vietnam and the Dak Lak provincial Fund for Vietnamese Children organized such program on giving cleft lip and cleft palate medical check-ups and operations for children and adults in the Central Highlands.

Over the past three years, nearly 700 individuals have been provided with exams and over 300 received operations./.
