The Police Department for Investigation of Drug-related Crimes under the Hai Phong Police on April 8th arrested Nguyen Van Nam at No. 10/32 Nguyen Huu Tue street, Gia Vien ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city, for illegal drug production and trafficking.
The police seized 1,300 tablets of ecstasy, weighing 385.19g; 2,066kg of ketamine; ready-mix ingredients (equal to 8,000 tablets), pressing machine, dryer, tools and equipment used to produce illegal drugs.
Upon further investigation, the police arrested Nam’s accomplice. He is Doan Thanh Trung, born in 1982 and residing Van My ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city for illegal drug trafficking.
Previously, the police had discovered that Nam has a relationship with Nguyen Dinh Hưng, who was the head of a gang specializing on illegal drug trafficking and storage, and was detained on December 9th, 2016.
Realizing that illegal drug production brings high profit, Nam learned about how to produce drugs and ecstasy by himself and through Nguyen Dinh Hung, those illegally producing drugs in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and via the Internet.
He rented a house at No. 10/32 Nguyen Huu Tue street, Gia Vien ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city, from July 2016 to make illegal drugs.
Nam used ketamine, Cannabis, medicine, adhesive, colourant and additives as materials; he bought a pressing machine, blender, dryer, mould and other related items for drug production.
Each day on average he produced about 1,000 tablets of ecstasy, providing drug addicts in bars and karaoke bars in the city.
Nam asked Trung, a drug addict, to deliver the drugs for him./.
