Hanoi adds VND20 billion in dengue fever prevention

Assessing that dengue fever will continue its complicated development, based on its regular peak around September and November each year, Hanoi has added VND20 billion to efforts fighting the disease.

The information was announced during a meeting held by the city Party Committee on August 22nd.

According to Hoang Duc Hanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, 14 districts in the city are in high emergency about dengue fever. Meanwhile, since the beginning of this year, over 18,800 cases of dengue fever have been reported, with seven fatalities.

He added that the city had publicized the disease situation and mobilized resources for fighting the disease. “In the upcoming time, Hanoi will buy an additional 80 chemical spraying machines and 15 vehicle-mounted spraying units,” he said.

Stressing the importance of killing mosquitoes and larva to prevent dengue fever, Mr. Hanh said that six delegations will be set up to inspect mosquito and larva destruction at the grassroots level.

Hanoi has also increased information dissemination about the disease, including sending messages on preventive measures via mobile phones, and educating pupils on inspecting prevention at their homes./.
