With a capital of over VND1.5 trillion, the hospital will provide 100 boarding sick-beds and 250 sick-beds for outpatients. All the departments will meet global healthcare accreditation services provided by the Joint Commission International (JCI), in order to detect and give early diagnosis and treatment to cancer patients.

Covering around 5,000 square meters, this hospital will also operate in accordance with the model of Japan and US standard hi-tech hospitals, and be equipped with testing devices standard in these two countries’ modern hospitals. In particular, the hospital’s pathological analysis and diagnosis centre has an Internet connection with Japanese and US partner hospitals for consultancy, to put forth the most exact medical results.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien stressed that there was an increase in the number of non-infectious disease patients and deaths, including cancer patients and fatalities caused by cancer.

The increase puts pressure on the healthcare system as well as the cancer prevention network, with an overcrowding of cancer patients at hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, according to Minister Tien.

She added that the building of the hospital reflected increased cooperation between the Vietnamese and Japanese governments. “The hospital, once being put into operation, will help reduce the number of patients at medical foundations in Hanoi, provide better treatment to people, and restrict patients from having to go abroad for treatment,” she said.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung asked the investor to carry out the project with the planned schedule and quality, ensuring that it would be put into use by the first quarter of 2018 as scheduled.

Statistics show that each year, the country reports an additional 200,000 cancer patients with some 100,000 fatalities. Cancer patients can be cured if their pathological signs are detected early and they follow appropriate treatment methods./.
