Of the VND5 trillion, over VND683 billion was spent paying medical insurance for poor families and those living near the poverty line; VND4 trillion paying monthly social allowances; nearly VND98 billion giving power fee support; and over 33 billion as educational fee exemption and reduction for poor pupils.

According to the city People’s Committee, the city entrusted over VND2.9 trillion to the city Bank for Social Policies to give loans to poor families for employment, production, business, housing and new-style rural areas.

Apart from the budget, in 2018, the city People's Committee mobilized VND50 billion from businesses to build and repair degraded houses for poor households. In addition, the Hanoi Fatherland Front collected over VND21 billion for the “For the Poor” Fund. Meanwhile, district and communal levels collected VND164.7 billion to support the poor and poor households.

So far, the city has allocated enough resources to implement the promulgated poverty reduction policies to meet the actual needs, ensuring the completion of the program’s goals.

It has also added capital to loans, including employment loans, production support loans and labor export loans, in order to help families expand production and earn more income./.
