Hanoi targets 100% health insurance coverage among HIV/AIDS patients

The target of 100% health insurance coverage among HIV/AIDS patients was presented at a conference on evaluation of HIV/AIDS prevention and control in 2017 and operational orientation in 2018 in Hanoi, held by the Hanoi Health Department on January 25th.

According to a report by the Hanoi Preventive Health Centre, the rate of HIV/AIDS infection is 232 out of 100,000 people. As of December 31st, 2017, the total of living HIV/AIDS infected-people in the city was 19,637 people, ranking the second position nationwide.

In 2018, the city strives to reach the target of 60% of HIV-infected people being managed and treated with Antiretroviral (ARV) drugs, 100% of HIV/AIDS patients having health insurance and 75% of HIV/AIDS carriers knowing their disease status.

In order to carry out these targets successfully, the city will expand detoxification treatment facilities with Methadone at districts, which have over 250 drug users and strengthen the HIV/AIDS treatment network at all levels to provide examination and treatment of HIV/AIDS patients with health insurance./.
