Head of interprovincial drug ring arrested

Duong Dinh Dang, 30, residing in Tho Quan ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi, leader of a ring trafficking drugs from the northwestern region and Quang Ninh province to Hanoi, was arrested by the Hanoi Police on May 4th.

He was arrested while he was hiding on Le Van Huu street, Hai Ba Trung district. The police seized a K59 short gun with eight bullets, three plastic bags containing drugs, VND147 million and a briefcase hiding another short gun with eight bullets.

Dang confessed that he had shipped 4,443.78g of drugs. He had even supplied drugs to centipede-foot-shaped networks in the ring transporting drugs from the northwestern region and Quang Ninh province’s Mong Cai city to Hanoi to sell.

Previously, the Hanoi Police arrested two men in the ring of Duong Dinh Tang, including Pham Van Minh, 43, residing in Hai Hoa ward, Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, and Nguyen Van Tung, 37, residing in Soc Son district, Hanoi in September 2016. The police seized 5,661 tablets of ecstasy, weighing 1,431.29g.

Examining their accommodations, the police continued to seize five mobile phones, VND3.5 million, two cars, a K59 gun and some objects and documents related to illegal drug transportation.

In addition, they also seized 11,149 tablets of ecstasy, weighing 3,012.49g, hidden in a spare wheel under their car.

Minh and Tung admitted their offense under the direction of Duong Dinh Tang. The case is under further investigation./.
