Highly skilled laborers honored

The Ministry of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on May 20th held a meeting to review and award winners of the 44th World Skills Competition in 2017 and the 10th National Skills Competition in 2018.

It aimed to honor young highly skilled laborers, thus promoting emulation in practicing skills, encouraging learners and teachers to contribute to the quality of human resources.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam awarded the third class Labor Order to Tran Nguyen Ba Thuoc who had won the bronze medal, and the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit to five ones who had been presented with excellent skills certificates of merit at the 44th World Skills Competition.

The 44th World Skills Competition was held on October 8th-20th, 2017, at the United Arab Emirates (UAE), attracting 1,258 candidates from 58 countries and territories who competed in 51 skills in six areas of social and personal services, construction and building technology, creative arts and fashion, information and communication technology, transportation and logistics, manufacturing and engineering technology.

Twelve Vietnamese joined the competition in 111 skills, gaining a bronze medal and five excellent certificates, marking the second time Vietnam earned medals at the World Skills Competition.

Meanwhile, the 10th National Skills Competition, which was held from May 13th-20th in Hanoi and Ha Nam province, attracting 520 candidates in 26 skills, presented the first prizes to 63 candidates, second prizes to 15, and third prizes to 71 candidates.

Organized every two years, this year's competition aims to select excellent individuals to compete at the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition to be held this year in Thailand and the 45th World Skills Competition next year in the Russian Federation./.
