Ho Chi Minh city destroys illegally imported and fake goods

The Ho Chi Minh city Agency of Market Management on June 27th destroyed illegally imported and fake goods worth over VND10 billion.

The goods included tobacco, cosmetics, food, glasses, alcohol, watches, clothes and toys.

According to Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Head of the city Agency of Market Management, the goods were detected and seized in the first half of 2017.

The goods are worth up to over VND10 billion.

Reports from the department show that in the first half of this year, over 8,900 inspections were carried out, a year-on-year increase of 3,225 inspections, detecting 3,921 violations relating to trade, transport and storage of forbidden goods; trade, transport and storage of illegally imported goods; and trade of fake goods. So far, the Agency has levied fines in 2,269 cases, collecting over VND73 billion for the budget.


Goods worth over VND45 billion have been destroyed since the beginning of this year.

This was the 4th time since the beginning of this year that the destruction of goods worth a total of VND45 billion had been carried out, an increase of over 150% compared to the same period last year./.
