Pham Thanh Kien, Director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said that since the beginning of this year, authorized forces had discovered over 17,000 cases of fake goods, forcing the department to increase inspection over businesses with signals of violations, in order to ensure a healthy, transparent and safe business environment; and minimizing trade fraud.

“Strict punishment will be carried out for fake goods in order to protect the interests of customers,” he said.

According to Mr. Kien, his department has signed a deal with the city Association for the Protection of Customers to receive regular information from customers, in order to promptly deal with trade fraud. Since the beginning of this year, it has addressed 42 of 53 received cases.

Recently, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, has asked relevant agencies to strictly punish those trading fake goods, especially during the rest of the year.

According to Mr. Phong, the city always issues programs on loan support and administrative reform to create the best conditions for investors to carry out healthy and transparent business./.
