Ho Chi Minh city leaders celebrate the Buddha's birthday

On April 27th, a delegation from the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front visited the Managing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Giac Ngo newspaper.

The visit, led by Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee and Chairwoman of the city People’s Council, aimed to celebrate Buddha's 2561st birthday.

Visiting Giac Ngo newspaper, Chairwoman Tam expressed her pleasure with the development of the newspaper which attracted greater and greater number of domestic and foreign readers, not only among Buddhist monks and followers but also other groups of people, especially the young generation.

The newspaper helps provide true and diversified information about Buddhist work, social life and the development of the nation. She also said she hoped this media channel would further develop, attract more and more readers, and become an important information source in the Vietnamese press network.

Superior Buddhist monk Thich Giac Toan, Vice President of the Managing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Giac Ngo newspaper, thanked Ho Chi Minh city leaders for making favourable conditions for Buddhist work, including Giac Ngo newspaper. He pledged to issue investment policies for bettering the demand of information dissemination to readers.

On the same day, the delegation visited, and congratulated on Buddha's birthday, superior Buddhist monk Danh Lung, a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Central Committee and Deputy Head of Office II of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh city./.
