The information was provided by the board during its meeting with the Central Steering Committee on Food Safety on May 3rd.

According to the Ho Chi Minh city Food Safety Board, it took 144 food samples for testing, detecting 40.3% of which not meeting food safety requirements; seized 300 litres of non-origin wine, 620 wine products and over 39,000 yeast tablets.

Addressing the meeting, Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Head of the Board, said that inspection would be increased to detect whether prohibited substances are used in food.

She added that quick tests on food safety were necessary to identify the quality of food. “However, as the quick test has not been listed by the Ministry of Health during food safety inspection, the Central Steering Committee on Food Safety should propose that the ministry list it,” she said./.
