So said Ms Le Minh Ngoc, Standing Deputy President of the city Study Promotion Society, during a meeting held on October 29th to mark the traditional day for study promotion and present talent promotion scholarships to students in the 2017-2018 school-year.

The model of talent promotion scholarships is carried out by an individual or agency pledging to sponsor a specific student throughout his or her tertiary education.

Established since 2000, the Society has provided scholarships to over 2,400 students under the sponsorship of 552 individuals and 40 groups and agencies with nearly VND21 billion. The scholarships have helped students graduate from universities, thus getting stable jobs after graduation.

Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu appreciated the city Study Promotion Society for its initiatives in encouraging study among communities, thus helping increase people’s knowledge, boosting poverty reduction, prevent social evils, and creating a firm foundation for the development of the life-long study movement.

She urged the Society to continue its efforts in encouraging sponsorship for the scholarships.

On this occasion, the city Study Promotion Society presented 581 scholarships worth over VND1.8 billion to disadvantaged students./.
