Ho Chi Minh city strives to build 20,000 social flats

In its plan on development and management of social housing in the 2016-2020 period, Ho Chi Minh city is striving to build 20,000 social flats and 35,000 accommodations for workers and laborers in industrial zones and 10,000 accommodations for students.

In particular, from now until 2020, the city will focus on building 37 social housing projects on an area of 134.89 hectares of land, providing some 43,624 flats, while striving to complete and put into use 29 projects on an area of 46.69 hectares of land, providing 19,436 flats.

The city, in this period, also plans to complete 8 workers’ buildings on an area of 18.6 hectares of land, satisfying providing the accommodation for 31,180 workers. 

In 2017, a students’ dormitory project will be inaugurated in the city on an area of some 4,000 square metres, satisfying providing 250 concentrated accommodations for students.

From 2018 to 2020, it will continue to call on investment in for building accommodations for an additional 3,250 accommodations for students./.
