Honoring 100 outstanding blood donors nationwide

(CPV) - The national Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation honored outstanding individuals during a ceremony held in Hanoi on June 14th, as well as celebrating the World Blood Donor Day 2017.

As many as 100 outstanding blood donors from 63 provinces/cities, ministries, agencies and 38 representatives from international organizations and nations were named on the stage.

Ms Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, a member of the Secretariat, Head of the PCC Commission for Mass Mobilization, highly appreciated the lofty and beautiful deeds of the 100 outstanding local individuals as well as international examples, saying that these silent contributions had reinforced the development of the blood donation campaign, thus spreading the national spirit and compassionate amongst people.

Participants demonstrated their respect for Mr Tran Nguyen Dung from Ho Chi Minh city, who has donated blood 61 times, and traveled a distance of 50 kilometers to donate his blood; Mr Pham Nguyen Hong Chau from central Quang Nam province with a record of 36 blood donations; Mr Floris Langendam, 68, from the Netherlands with around 600 blood donations; or Mr Yudhbir Singh, head of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology (ISBTI) who is a leader of more than 5,000 blood donation festivals./.
