Housing support given to over 14,400 revolutionary contributors

Diverse housing programs were carried out in the first half of this year, satisfying the demand of accommodations for entitlement policy individuals, poor and low-income families, the Ministry of Construction has reported.

Accordingly, the program giving housing support to persons with meritorious service to the revolution has been completed for 14,420 families nationwide, including 5,185 newly built houses, the rest being repaired ones. Meanwhile, 141,959 families’ houses are being built or repaired.

Recently, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, to increase the speed and quality of the programs.

Meanwhile, 14,000 of over 23,500 poor families in the central region have been assisted with over VND565 billion for houses built to withstand dangerous storms and floods.

In the Mekong River Delta, the program on developing sustainable residential areas in flood zones has completed the building of 178 of 179 areas, and helped over 52,000 of over 55,000 families reside in the areas.

In urban areas, 86 housing projects for low-income people have been completed nationwide, providing some 34,700 flats and more than 1.7 million square metres of housing. Additionally, 100 housing projects serving workers in industrial zones have also been put into use, with some 41,000 flats of over two million square metres./.
