Lang Son province has a borderline of 231.7km in 21 communes bordering China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Since 2010, local border guards, militia and public security forces have conducted over 10,300 patrols with more than 56,600 turns of officers, soldiers and 4,200 residents in border communes taking part.

Lang Son and Chinese border guards held 17 joint patrols along a border section of 95.43km.

The province has well conducted external affairs with Guangxi, strengthened people-to-people diplomacy in border areas, seriously implemented legal documents on the Vietnam – China mainland border, and promptly discovered and dealt with violations, thus firmly safeguarding Vietnam’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking at the event, Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Hoang Van Nghiem asked party committees, administrations, departments and agencies at all levels, especially border districts and communes to seriously follow the Party Central Committee’s resolutions on national border protection strategy, abide by three legal agreements on the Vietnam – China mainland border, the Law on National Borders and relevant laws.

They were required to effectively fight cross-border crime, facilitate export-import and immigration activities, and improve the material and spiritual lives in border areas, towards having not any poor household in communes.

At the same time, the province will intensify friendship with Guangxi and effectively tap existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

On the occasion, Nghiem presented certificates of merit to 21 collectives and 17 individuals in recognition of their contributions to border demarcation and marker planting and the implementation of the three legal agreements./.
