Mekong River Delta localities fight A/H1N1 flu

Diverse provinces and cities in the Mekong River Delta have carried out different measures to fight A/H1N1 flu as the region has reported 4 fatalities from the disease and a number of infections were discovered since the beginning of this year while the rainy season, which facilitates the development of the outbreak, is coming.

Nguyen Cong Tuan, Deputy Director of the Vinh Long provincial Department of Health, said that the health sector has closely worked with Tam Binh district health centre which reported a fatality of the disease, and its communal health sector, to monitor the temperatures of those who had contact with the patient. Meanwhile, dissemination of information on the disease has been increased for the public to have greater understanding about it.

After reporting the first infection of A/H1N1 flu, the Can Tho health sector has sent official dispatches to grassroots health agencies to carry out preventive measures, in order to promptly uncover suspected patients, take medical samples for testing, early treat patients, prevent the spread of the disease, and strictly inspect the health of people who had contact with the reported patient. Meanwhile, sufficient equipment, chemicals and medicine have been prepared.

According to Deputy Director of the city Health Department Nguyen Trung Nghia, the health sector has encouraged people to be vaccinated and have prompt medical check-ups if they have any suspected symptoms.

In Hau Giang province, strong preventive measures have been carried out at the communal level to fight flu A, including flu A/H1N1, Phan Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the provincial Health Department, has reported./.
