Nearly 17,200 works carried out in Youth Month

The 2018 Youth Month highlighting youth’s creativity in boosting national construction has been carried out widely, attracting a large number of members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and teenagers, bringing about practical results.

During a meeting to review the month, held on April 15th in Da Nang city, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee said that the activities had been in connection with realizing socio-economic development targets set by the Party and State, with a focus on supporting youngsters’ start-ups, expanding social welfare, caring for children, and providing job consultancy and introduction to youngsters.

Accordingly, nearly 17,200 works were carried out nationwide. Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union members at all levels built 103 kilometres and repaired 1,247 kilometres of rural roads; maintained 1,844 advanced streets; planted more than 2.1 million trees; provided production and start-up loans for over 15,200 youngsters; allocated free medical check-ups and medicine to over 157,500 residents; and constructed and repaired 1,700 houses of charity.

Additionally, humanitarian working Saturdays helped over 311,000 residents address administrative procedures; and repaired and built 1,500 children’s playing grounds.

Under the month, over 1 million youngsters received employment consultancy and introduction, while over 373,700 individuals were admitted to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

In Da Nang city, youngsters joined the month in promote the spirit of start-ups, building a smart city, developing urban advancement, protecting the environment and coping with climate change, caring for teenagers and children, and carrying out social welfare.

As a result, 5,000 trees were planted; two kilometres of coast were cleaned up; nearly 1,100 units of blood were collected from over 1,600 youngsters; 20 houses of disadvantaged youngsters were built or repaired with VND400 million; and recreation and sports equipment worth VND100 million was installed./.
