To mark the World Blood Donor Day (June 14th), nearly 200 individuals and families in Hanoi have been honoured as outstanding blood donors by the city blood donation steering committee.

Over the past years, Hanoi has always led the country in the number of voluntary blood donors, as well as collected units of blood. In 2017 alone, 2.7% of Hanoi population donated blood, collecting over 204,000 units of blood, an increase of 5 times compared to 2008. Since the beginning of this year, the city received over 110,000 units of blood.
The donated blood has saved many patients at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and other hospitals.
The city is striving to encourage 4% of the population to donate blood by 2020, collecting some 300,000 units of blood./.
