Ninh Thuan province cares for ethnic minority people

The central province of Ninh Thuan has carried out a wide range of solutions boosting socio-economic development among ethnic minority people, in order to improve their material and spiritual lives.

In 2017, the province focused on building infrastructure and supporting production in poor districts and ethnic minority-inhabited extremely disadvantaged communes and villages. Accordingly, 32 constructions, including roads, schools, irrigation works, medical foundations and markets were built using a capital of VND18.4 billion. Additional VND822 billion was also spent upgrading other constructions and VND7 billion was earmarked to support the breeding industry in extremely disadvantaged communes.

Besides, localities regularly organized training courses and the transfer of breeding and plantation technology to help people increase their incomes from agricultural production.

So far, 100% of communes have roads to their centres; nearly 100% of ethnic minority families have access to power; over 80% of families use hygienic water; and 100% of communes have cultural houses, assisting to reduce the poverty rate among ethnic minorities by over 2% per year.

In 2018, the province plans to develop communities production, and choose plantation and breeding structures that suit ethnic minorities’ cultivation in mountainous areas.

Departments will increase agricultural and forestry production encouragement and the application of advanced technology in production; and expand production of key crops that appeal to the market, thus boosting modern production and the value of agricultural products./.
