No new Covid-19 patients reported in Vietnam for successive days

Since February 13th, Vietnam has not reported any new cases of Covid-19. The disease is well controlled in the country, which was appreciated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Statistics of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health (MoH) showed that as of 11h00 on February 19th, 14 of 16 Covid-19 patients detected in Vietnam had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 2 Chinese citizens. 

The remaining patients are still being treated at hospital are in stable condition.

In a Government meeting on February 17th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc noted that Vietnam remains a safe destination, confirming that the country will continue to maintain people’s travel, promote production, and boost economic and trade development, while ensuring every person’s health safety.

He also stressed that in 2003, Vietnam was the first country recognized by WHO  to successfully control SARS, only after 45 days into the outbreak. 

“We are now more confident with existing equipment and determination,” he said. “In fact, Vietnam has done well, thanks to people’s active response, and the effective action of the whole political system, especially the health sector.”

“We have not allowed any Covid-19 case to fall into dangerous situation,” he went on to say.

Among the localities reporting the disease, Khanh Hoa and Thanh Hoa provinces are expected to announce they are free from the disease in the days to come.

As of 11h00 on February 19th, 75,199 people worldwide were infected by the disease, with 2,010 fatalities, mainly in China./.
