Since 2016, the northern province of Bac Kan has invested over VND2.2 trillion in boosting poverty reduction.

As a result, over 31,000 poor and nearly-poor families have gained access to preferential loans; over 15,500 laborers have got jobs; over 635,300 people have been provided with medical insurance cards; over 40,300 pupils have enjoyed school fee exemption or reduction; and over 182,100 pupils have been assisted with meal fees.
Additionally, the province has given power fee support to over 80,100 families; direct support to over 188,400 poor families in disadvantaged areas; and production land to over 1,700 families.
These efforts have helped reduce the poverty rate by 2.52% each year while it targets to reduce the rate by 2-2.5% annually by 2020./.
