Number of fires in Ho Chi Minh city sharply reduced

In the first 3 months of this year, Ho Chi Minh city reported 280 fires, a year-on-year reduction of 58.46%, killing 7 people, injured 13 others, and claiming initial losses of some VND18 billion.

The information was provided by the Ho Chi Minh city Firefighting Police during a recent press conference on firefighting work and rescue work in the first quarter of the year.

According to the city Firefighting Police, the fires happened mainly in residential housing. It inspected fire safety across 22,782 foundations, detecting 2,571 foundations violating firefighting safety regulations and fining them a total of over VND2.3 billion.

It also worked with over 3,300 agencies to organize nearly 3,300 meetings disseminating information about firefighting for 62,952 people; instructed businesses and foundations to carry out 53,593 firefighting inspections and 5,263 firefighting practices.

According to Colonel Tran Thanh Chau, Deputy Head of the city Firefighting Police, in the second quarter of this year, the agency will increase measures to continue to reduce the number of fires in the city, organize meetings on ensuring fire safety at households and small businesses; and develop plans to protect festivals and big events./.
