However, many of them have strived to build for themselves prosperous lives, while creating jobs for many others.
Wounded soldier Bien Thi My in Trung Hung village, Trung Lap Thuong commune, Cu Chi district, joined revolutionary activities when she was 15 years old. She underwent a lot of hardships to raise her children and do businesses. After tens of years saving money, she raised a herd of hundreds of pigs. In 2002, she borrowed VND60 million from the national fund for job creation to invest in the breeding grounds and buy breeding pigs. However, in 2005, as the blue ear pig disease occurred, her pigs died. Despite difficulties, she turned to carrying out aquaculture and raising cows for meat, earning over VND100 million per year.
Born from a revolutionary family, wounded soldier Bien Thi My’s father, three brothers and sisters are martyrs, while her mother is recognized as a Vietnamese heroic mother. She has nurtured the revolutionary tradition among her children. Her three children have become Party members while her husband is a Secretary of the village Party Organization for many years.
Wounded soldier Tran Trong An, who is Chairman of the Veterans’ Association in ward 10, district 8, has run a footwear production foundation, creating jobs for 15 workers who are disadvantaged wounded soldiers and veterans.
Wounded soldier Luu Xuan Ly, who is the owner of the Thai Minh Mechanics Company in Son Ky ward, Tan Phu district, creates jobs for 22 laborers. Being a good producer, he directly assists other laborers having stable jobs and income.
Being a martyr’s child, Ho Thi Hong in Truong Tho ward, Thu Duc district always hopes to bring good deeds to unlucky persons. Throughout 36 years at work, including 29 years working in the labor, war-invalids and social affairs sector, she has always fulfilled assigned tasks. She, now Secretary of the Party Committee of and Director of the Thanh Loc Centre for paralysed persons in district 12, has always cared for improving the quality of lives of paralysed persons, officers and laborers. She has been awarded diverse certificates of merit by the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs.
Many such examples have been reported in Ho Chi Minh city, as well as many other localities across the country. Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded soldiers and revolutionary contributors have promoted the revolutionary tradition to contribute to national development./.
