OV woman arrested with 14 cakes of heroin in Tan Son Nhat Airport

An overseas Vietnamese women in Australia, 37, was arrested while she was transporting heroin from Vietnam to Australia.

The information was released on July 24
th by the Customs Sub-Department of Tan Son Nhat International Airport under the Ho Chi Minh city Customs Department.

The authorities discovered 14 cakes of heroin divided into 26 small parts, carefully hidden in her luggage and belongings. The heroin has a total weight of nearly 5kg.

She confessed that she was to be paid USD25,000 for the successful transport. If being transported to Australia, the black market price of this amount of heroin would be about USD750,000.

The authorities are continuing to investigate the case and arrest related people.

In first six month of 2016, the Customs Sub-Department of Tan Son Nhat International Airport detected and seized 1.1 tons of “khat” leaves containing very poisonous cathinone from Africa, nearly 15kg of heroin, cocaine and drugs being illegally transported through the Airport./.
