The information was announced during a meeting held on June 13th to review blood donation and honour blood donors.

Over the past 10 years, voluntary blood donation has received great support from all classes of people. It has continuously developed, bringing about positive results, with an increase in the quality and quantity of blood units.

The results have been reported thanks to increased dissemination of blood donation information. Accordingly, blood donation steering committees at all levels have organized nearly 1,200 dissemination campaigns, using over 316,000 communications products. Diverse blood donation programs, including those during lunar New Year festivals or summers, and the nation’s largest blood donation drive, Red Journey, have been carried out.

The 5 living blood banks have donated 150 units of blood in emergency cases, along with a 222-member club of those with rare blood groups.

During the meeting, 15 collectives and four individuals who made great achievements in blood donation in the 2008-2017 period were honored by the provincial People’s Committee, while 52 outstanding families representing nearly 1,300 collectives and families who made remarkable contributions to blood donation in the 2012-2017 period received certificates of merit from the provincial blood donation steering committee.

From now to 2020, the province is striving to reach 1.6% of its population donating blood in order to satisfy the demand for blood for treatment of patients in the province as well as in surrounding regions./.
