Over 50 Vietnamese candidates join ASEAN Skills Competition

As many as 52 Vietnamese will join the competition in 26 skills of the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition, which will take place in Thailand from August 26th - September 5th, attracting 337 competitors from 10 countries.

Under the event with the theme “Our Skills, Our Future”, some main activities will be held, including the meeting of the Technical and Organising Committees, the workshop on vocational education in ASEAN, and skills competition. An exchange among foreign competitors will also be organized for sharing experience with host candidates.

Vietnamese candidates were selected and trained for the competition since June 18th by 88 experts who are experienced in training candidates for ASEAN and World Skills Competitions.

During a send-off ceremony on August 23rd, Deputy Minister of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs Le Quan stressed that the future trend of Vietnamese and world society is a skills society. “When youngsters master skills, they will have good jobs and future, and find it easy to adapt to life’s changes,” he said.

Vietnam has joined nine Competitions and ranked first in three events. In the latest competition in Malaysia in 2016, Vietnam ranked 3/9 countries./.
