Over 54,000 labourers go to work abroad

In the first 5 months of this year, over 54,000 labourers went to work abroad, accounting for 45% of the year’s plan, the Overseas Labourer Management Department under the Ministry of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs has reported.

Some large receivers of Vietnamese labourers included Japan (over 28,394), China’s Taiwan (over 20,700) and the Republic of Korea (over 2,800).

Nearly 260 labourers went to work in Southeast Asian nations, accounting for 0.48% of the sent labourers, mainly to Malaysia.

Meanwhile, 650 labourers came to the Middle East and Africa. Businesses only provided labourers to 5 main markets, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Kuwait, while 229 labourers went to Algeria.

Over 930 labourers got stable jobs and good income in European countries, including the Cyprus Republic, Rumania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Belarus, Poland and Italy.  

This year, the nation targets to send 120,000 labourers abroad. In 2018, the number of guest labourers rose high, at over 142,000, marking a record in labour exports over the past 5 years./.
