Over VND1.7 trillion to support the poor

Over the past 15 years, the Da Nang city Association of Unlucky Women and Children has mobilized over VND1.7 trillion to assist poor unlucky women and children, as well as poor cancer patients.

The information was announced during a Congress held on October 18th to review the operation of the Association since its establishment in 2002.

Thanks to the capital, the Association has carried out a wide range of practical activities, including building the women’s and cancer hospitals, assisting children with heart diseases, giving medical check-ups to over 148,000 children and heart surgeries to nearly 900 children, using nearly VND37.7 billion.

Over 10,000 poor patients have enjoyed hospital fee reduction of nearly VND6.3 billion, and nearly 1.7 million portions of free soup worth VND6.6 billion have been distributed to poor patients. 

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh recognized the Association’s efforts in bringing vitality to thousands of children and hope to many poor families, contributing to making Da Nang city one of leading localities in the country in controlling heart disease in children./.
