Over VND136 billion used to treat child heart patients

Over VND15 billion was collected to support heart operations for children with congenital heart diseases during a gala held on November 4th to mark 10 years of the “Operation Healthy Heart” program.

The gala witnessed marvelous changes for children who enjoy free heart surgeries, which turned them from seriously ill into healthy children, before becoming students full of dreams and targets, and those leading stable lives.
“The most valuable present that the program gives them is an open door to life,” said a gala participant.
Performed by the Vietnam Military-run Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) and Vietnam Television over the past 10 years, the program has supported free heart surgeries for 4,500 patients under 16 years old and given free heart check-ups to 100,000 children across nearly 50 remote localities, using VND136.2 billion collected from individuals, organizations and businesses.
Under the program, 40 hospitals have been enjoyed with heart surgery and treatment equipment; and 34 online programs have been organized to link families with child heart patients and leading heart experts./.
